Bobby and Bob Beaumont live in California, USA. He was 69 when he was diagnosed
on Feb. 25th, 2008. His initial PSA was 4.3 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 6 and
he was staged T1c. His choice of treatment was Laparoscopic Robotic Surgery. Here
is his story.
I'm writing this on behalf of my better half- Bobby.
He
is 69 years of age. Never been to the hospital, No other health issues. His father
however passed from neglecting his prostate cancer.
We got the news over
the phone from the urologist who preformed Bobby's second biopsy. He suggested
a book "The Prostate" by Patrick Walsh, M.D. which we've found educationally helpful.
I researched treatment options prior to our meeting with the urologist.
The Da Vinci Prostatectomy is the best conclusion I came to.
Without mentioning
it the Urologist stated the decision was up to us, but his recommendation was
the Da Vinci Prostatectomy
He asked what insurance will be used. When he
replied with It's Scan & HealthCare Partners, the urologist shook his head mentioning
that the Medical Director, under HealthCare Partners is known for denial of authorization
even though they don't offer it.
So the request for authorization is in
for a consult with locally based David Ornstein M.D. Named as one of the best
doctors in America and his expertise with this procedure.
Lets see if
the "decision is really up to us"
