Harold Tenenbaum lives in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. He was 57 when he was diagnosed in July 2006. His initial PSA was 4.9 ng/ml, his initial Gleason Score was 6 and although he does not state his staging, it seems that it would have been T1c. His choice of treatment was Laparascopic Robotic Prostatectomy. Here is his story:

I'm a normal 57 year old, I work out 3-4 days a week and have a good life. I left my wife of 30 years in January 2006 and have been working on getting divorced.

While trying to redo some life insurance the insurance company was not happy with my PSA of 4.9 ng/ml. My doctor felt it was high from all the exercise I was doing. To make a long story short we decided the only way to make the insurance company happy was to have a 12 point biopsy which came back positive.

Six week later I had my surgery done at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. I am now home 8 days after surgery and feel OK. Also got the pathology report today and the news was very good. Dr. Menon who did my surgery has done this more than 2,600 times and gives me a 95% chance of a full recovery. For me I feel I did what I needed to have done to be able to get on with my life.

I hope this helps someone.
