THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2017 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.
Hi. Stumbled on this site and am happy I did. I am 62 years old.....Looking for some general sense/direction as to next steps.
I'll try to briefly describe my situation…
PSA:
Normal PSA ran around 3.6…had prostititus 20 years ago
Have all the signs of an enlarged prostate.....real urge to urinate :)
On 4/13:PSA 4.2
On 12/13:PSA 6.2
Internist recommended Urologist visit; DRE nothing, another PSA 7.0 15% free
Had Biopsy(ugh): 20 samples 18 clean 2 suspicious - not confirmed cancerous (diagnosis was I believe ASAP)
PSA was still 7.0
New PSA 10/14: 8.8……
Obviously my Urologist wants a) PCA3 test… b) another biopsy
I'm an alternative health guy and even if I finally received a cancerous diagnosis - which I havent gotten yet… I feel I'd try other methods to improve my prostate health…..just kinda feel like its a never ending revolving door of testing. Ugh….
Any feedback is appreciated.
I just wanted to give an update from the last time I wrote here. If I recap what where I was in 3 years my PSA went from 3.6 to 8.8. So last year Jan 2014 when I hit 6.6. I had my first biopsy...ASAP was the diagnosis. Several pre cancerous cells but no definitive cancer. Suggestion another biopsy in 6 months. Dec 2014 had another biopsy. Again ASAP...a few more pre cancerous cells...nothing definitive but a PSA of 8.8. Recommendation another biopsy. I was rather unhappy with the revolving door of PSA and biopsy I was on...
I decided to try a couple of alternative options. I researched and found an Amazonian based herbal company that has a short protocol to address Prostate cancer - even though there was never a diagnosis. So I followed the protocol. I also started drinking a lemon/ginger/tumeric juice each morning for inflammation.
So I put off my blood test till November and crossed my fingers that my PSA would be better - knwing if it went up from 8.8 Id have to make a decision. Low and behold it was 5.0-best it had been in a couple of years. Everyone seemed satisfied that there was no progression and at least for now it ended the carousel of biopsies.
I know this isnt typical. Many men here have been diagnosed and are struggling with that issue. I was on the front end struggling with the quai-science of the PSA and the ultimate test-the biopsy.
I wasnt sure this was a good news story just really my update. Thanks for all who wrote to me with their encouragement and interest....
