THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2017 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.
My PSA had always been on the marginally high side. After three consecutive readings approaching 5 over a six month period, the doctor recommended a biopsy.
The needle biopsy experience, while uncomfortable, was only slighly painful after direct injections of litocane. The nurse and doctor who performed the biopsy were very reassuring and professional. They made me comfortable throughout the procedure.
My results showed invasion of all the test probes on the left side, and one spot on the right side. The Gleason scores were 6 and 7 with a stage of 2a. The urologist explained all the treatment options. We met with an oncologist and the surgeon. In the end I decided the robotic laproscopic surgery was the way to proceed.
The doctor told me surgery was textbook. No complications whatsoever. Spent one and a half days in the hospital including the surgery. Awoke with urinary catheter and abdominal drain in place. I was discharged with both. Two days later the drain was removed, seven more days before the catheter was removed.
Lymph nodes and surrounding tissues tested negative for malignancy.
I'm now in the post surgery recovery mode attempting to make progress to re establish urinary continance and sexual function, both of which, I have been assured, will return to some degree.
