Robo C lives in Georgia, USA. He was 59 when he was diagnosed in June, 2016. His initial PSA was 6.43 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 8, and he was staged Unknown. His choice of treatment was Surgery (Robotic Laparoscopic Prostatectomy). Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2017 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

Diagnosed June 3 2016. One of of ten core samples cancer. 4+4 6% of biopsy length. Gleason 4 100% of tumor volume. PSA 6.43. Ct and bone scan negative. Urologist gave me choices and recommended surgery, which I was leaning towards. Had consultations with surgeon, who recommended I consult with radiation oncologist before deciding on surgery. My wife and I had made our minds up to take prostate out. Biggest reason was the Gleason score 8, even that it was just one core. In 2012 I had surgery for diverticulitis with colostomy, had reconnected and colostomy take down 3 months later. Because of the scar tissue from those surgeries I now may not be candidate for prostate removal. Surgeon is sending me to radiation oncologist. What I'm beginning to understand is the I maybe rushing-and should have seen oncologist, and got their opinion. Is it true that surgery and radiation maybe same as far as outcome, that the only difference is the side effects. I really wanted the surgery and take it out. Doctor said it's a psychological thing. Also should I ask for an MRI?
