Carl Schuette and Mary lived in Saskatchewan, Canada. He was 69 when he was diagnosed in June, 2009. His initial PSA was 42.00 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 8, and he was staged T4. His initial treatment choice was ADT-Androgen Deprivation (Hormone) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

Diagnosed June 2009 with T4, with bone metastases. Currently am on HT - hormone therapy [ADT (Androgen Deprivation Therapy)] and awaiting results in October to see if working.

Received 10 RT - radiation therapy sessions as palliative treatment for pain as spinal cord compression was suspected, and was confirmed no compression. Have a nephrostomy and catheter in place as large tumor was blocking the urethra.

Currently received Lupron injection every 4 months.

UPDATED

February 2011

[Carl's daughter, Sheila writes:]

I was recently going through bookmarks on my computer and thought that I needed to update the status of my father, Carl Schuette.

I am sorry to say that dad passed away July 22, 2010. He fought this horrible disease until the very end, it took his strength, his dignity and his life. I would like to say, that the Palliative and Hospice programs in Saskatchewan were superb and made his battle of 14 months much easier to bear on him as well as the family.

I can only say Thank You for the education from your website for those living with the disease, success stories and the various treatment options available. Dad passed away pain free, and very peacefully, for this I am extremely thankful, and how honored I am to have been his care giver for those past months.
