Cancer was decreed only via digital exam as PSA was low...1.3 and hadn't risen over past several annual tests. Biopsy showed Gleason score of 7. Difficult part was deciding method of treatment. I decided upon robotic surgery over radiation because didn't like the idea of not knowing the certainty of whether or the cancer had been removed. I was told I wouldn't be declared cancer free after radiation for five years. I chose robotic over traditional due to shorter recoup time, etc.
Three years later I am cancer free. However I leak often and use a light pad every day. I am pleased that I have no issues with obtaining and maintaining an erection during sex. I have not experienced the need for Cialis or other drugs.
I have a PSA test annually and I assume as long as the test results remain as they are that I am cancer free.
None of this should be taken lightly. The entire experience extremely difficult...emotionally as well as physically and as a I am happy to help others deal with each traumatic step from deciding type of treatment to dealing with after effects.
Just had 5 year check up...PSA showed no trace. Feeling great! Everything works!
