Had a PSA test as part of my annual physical in August 2019, at which time my doctor informed me that my number was elevated, at 7. I waited another month and the second PSA result went down to 5. After yet another month my third test went back up to 8, and then another (late Nov. 2019) which produced a PSA of 14.8. At this point, the Urologist suggested that since my PSA numbers were jumping around that I should wait another 3 months to take another blood test. As I was feeling stressed from all the waiting around, I pushed back and asked for an MRI, which was done on 12/17/19. The results (PI-RADS 4) indicated a good chance for "clinically significant cancer" so a biopsy was scheduled for the following week. I was diagnosed with PCa Gleason 6 last week (12/23/19), and after another doctor reviewed the biopsy results he suggested I do AS and submit to another PSA test in 6 months. I'm now considering doing some scans to rule out any metastases. The second urologist who reviewed my biopsy was curious as to why I had been subjected to so many PSA tests within such a short timeline.

My second biopsy (Dec. 2020) produced the same results as the first: one small lesion that seems to be non-agressive to this point. Also, for whatever it's worth, my PSA has gone down (from 14 to 6) in the past year. I will do another PSA test (mid 2021) and if all goes well I won't have another biopsy until the end of 2022.

I know it's already Feb., so we're well into the new year, there's hey, there's always someone in the world celebrating a new year, so gung hay fat choy!! Happily, not much new to report. I've had two PSA reports since my last biopsy in 2020. I find myself consistently in the 6 to 8 range, but neither my old urologist or my new one is concerned about that. My new doctor did a lovely digital exam in Dec. 2021 and proclaimed that I should remain on AS. He'd like me to get a PSA reading mid-year and follow up with with my 3rd biopsy in Dec. 2022. Thinking good thoughts for the rest of you guys!!
