Arne Soederkvist and Anna live in Sweden. He was 68 when he was diagnosed in November, 1998. His initial PSA was 14.60 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 6, and he was staged T1c. His initial treatment choice was ADT-Androgen Deprivation (Hormone) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

I was given only two choices from the doctor, castration by surgery or hormone treatment. I chose hormone treatment - ADT (Androgen Deprivation Therapy).

My side effects are erectile dysfunction, loss of libido, hot flushes (not so often usually early in the morning),some development of breasts, need to urinate frequently and some incontinence, if I can't find a toilet fast, when needed.

I have a reasonable good life anyhow, and a patient and understanding wife. We go to gymnastics twice a week, and also walk for 1 hour/day in the nearby forest. My blood pressure is low (I am taking medicines after my heart attack 2000) I am wondering if there is any option for me to avoid the hormone treatment.

Kind regards Arne S
