Went for my annual physical April 2009. The doctor performed a DRE (Digital Rectal Examination) and felt abnormal spot, did PSA test and gave me antibiotics and Flomax. Results of the PSA was 4.1: last year was 3.3.
After second appointment he ordered a free PSA test the results was 11%. He made a appointment for me with a urologist for May 5th, 2009. Made visit with urologist he gave me another DRE said it felt OK. He ordered another PSA test to be done a few weeks later the results was now 5.1.
The urologist recommended biopsy it was performed on June 3rd at his office it was a small discomfort but no major pain. I received the results a few days later from the doctor. One core was positive out of the 10 sample. Had another office visit with the urologist on June 24th on what options that I have.
After careful research decided to have the open surgery on Aug. 3rd, 2009
Later: I was in surgery for three hours on August 3rd, 2009 and was in critical care unit for one day and regular hospital room for three days. I did received two units of my own blood on my second day in the hospital. I was very weak the first few days but did feel a lot better after I received my blood back.
The pain was minimal mostly from the catheter. I did receive my pathology report back a few days after the surgery the cancer was only located in the right side and contained to the capsule.
I did not receive any other information yet. I am dealing with the catheter for the next few weeks until I go back for the removal.
Received the first PSA test results after 30 days after surgery it came out non-dectable. My doctor prescribed 2.5mg Cialis for daily use.
The doctor gave me a copy of surgical pathology report it stated that the left and right lymph node were negative for malignancy, gleason score 3+3=6, Tumor involves approximately 40% of the right side and 5% of the left side: all other areas negative for tumor, but perineural invasion was focally postive. The pathologic stage:pT2 NO MX.
I am down to using two pads during the day and nothing at night and no erections.
90 days after surgery using one pad during the day only, no erections yet also had another PSA test and still non-detectable. Still taking the 2.5mg Cialis daily.
I had my 10 month check-up PSA is still non-detectable. After 4 months no more pads, but still no erections with Cialis. Doctor was surprised that nothing has happen yet. He then gave me a prescription for trimix penile shot. Came back to the office one week later and received a 25cc shot. Erection Lasted for 2 1/2 hours. Instuctions is to call the Doctor Office after five doses to see how things are going. Next appointment in December 2010.
Had a PSA test done again after 18 months still undetectable.
Using Trimix with good results so far no erections without it.
Next PSA test in six months.
Had a six month PSA still non detectable. Still no natural erections but still use trimix with success. I will now go on yearly PSA tests.
Had my Yearly check up on July 3rd at the Urologist which included digital rectal examination every thing was normal and the PSA lab results was still undetectable. Trimix is still working with no problems, I was told by the Doctor that I will never have a natural erection again since none has happened since my surgery. I was told to keep using the trimix 2 to 3 times a week to keep the blood flowing. I will still be on yearly check-ups.
I had yearly check-up no changes.
Received my annual digital rectal examination and PSA both results was negative for cancer returning.
Still using trimix with good results. Never had natural erection after prostate surgery.
I do have good urinary control.
Had PSA in July 2015 and Dr visit no cancer. Still using penile injection with success.
