Bill McKinnon and Vicki live in Ohio, USA. He was 55 when he was diagnosed in May, 2008. His initial PSA was 1.92 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 6, and he was staged T2a. His initial treatment choice was Surgery (Retropubic Prostatectomy) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

Dad was diagnosed at age 62. He died at age 63-½ I've been getting checked since age 50. PSA was very low, 1.92, however on DRE family doc felt something. Sent me to specialist who did ultra-sound and biopsy.

Four of six samples came back positive for cancer. I had a Radical Prostatectomy in June '08. Margins and Lymph nodes clear and blood tests since have PSA at 0.02. Doc calls that undetectable.

I have experienced problems with bladder control and ED but I am working on both with exercise and the docs help.

UPDATED

November 2009

I continue to do very well. Bladder control problem is in check...as long as I don't spend a lot of time picking up very heavy objects.

ED is still an issue, but I was aware that that was a probable outcome of the Rad. Prost. from the beginning.

Life continues to be good.....but I believe that mostly comes from within.

UPDATED

March 2011

I continue to do very well. ED continues to be an issue, but I knew that before choosing treatment.

I continue to take vitamins and fish oil and to some extent watch what I eat.

I feel very blessed to be where I am.

UPDATED

April 2012

Just had my 4 year check-up. PSA is 0. No new issues to deal with. God is good.

As a side note, why would you remove info from the site if people don't respond with updates? [We like to see updates because if there is no update, many visitors assume that the man has passed on. An update contradicts that view. We no longer remove entries with no update - moving them to the Inactive section.]

Just returned from my 5 year checkup. PSA was 0......Actually it's never really 0 but so close you can't tell the difference. All is well with me. I have finally made it to the age my Dad was when he lost his battle with Prostate Cancer. I feel very blessed to have had the help and support of my family and friends thru the last 5 years.
